APPLEDORE BOOK FESTIVAL 26 September - 4 October 2009
The Appledore Book Festival takes place over nine days in the fishing village of Appledore North Devon with over 5000 visitors expected. The festival remit to spread a love of reading and learning with innovative events and raise money for the Appledore Library and reading projects for disadvantaged children. The 2008 line-up included Jacqueline Wilson, Libby Purves, Tony Benn, Roy Hattersley, Penny Vincenzi and Peregrine Worsthorne. 2009 will feature over 60 events presented by some of Britain's best-known and best-loved authors.

THE BATH FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN'S LITERATURE 18 - 27 September 2009

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON FESTIVAL 18 - 20 September 2009
The inaugural literary festival in Budleigh Salterton is sub-titled 'Adolphus and All That' in tribute to one of Budleigh Salterton’s historic writers, Thomas Adolphus Trollope, brother of Anthony, who spent his last years in the town. The historical theme is continued with performances of Charles Dickens’ characters by Gerald Dickens and Coleridge’s 'Table Talk' by Dennis Harkness. Sheila Mitchell will also be reading prose and poetry on the theme of 'Writing by the Sea' including work by Noel Coward (Blithe Spirit). Sue Lawley, Hugh Williams and Hugo Swire will be presenting an evening devoted to the work of Hilaire Belloc (Old Thunder). Authors will include Hilary Mantel, Virginia Ironside, Sarah Harrison, Simon Brett, H R F Keating, Pamela Neville-Sington, Michael Foreman and Val McDermid. Michael Morpurgo will be appearing in a special pre-Festival event on the 5 September.

SW11 LITERARY FESTIVAL 7 - 30 September 2009
The SW11 Literary Festival is a highlight of the year in Battersea and is organised by the Clapham Junction Town Centre Partnership (Wandsworth Borough Council) and Waterstone's. This series of literary events, runs each year throughout the month of September.
