Young Booktrust produce an annual list of the 100 Best Books for children published in the previous year.

We have published a bibliography of children's literature, British Literature for Young People: 1990-2000 which you can order from us.

The ACHUKA Children’s Books UK site has lots of information about children’s literature.

Stories from the Web has author interviews, booklists, and the chance for children to write reviews and stories.

Wordpool has book reviews, book lists, author profiles, information for children’s writers, news and an e-mail discussion group.

Children’s Book Company contains reviews, interviews, and a chat room.

Children’s Book Directory features a directory of links to sites on authors, illustrators, publishers, illustrators, relevant organisations, events, information for writers, discussion lists, book news and reviews, individual books, series and characters, children's literature - history and study, and children's booksellers.

The Contemporary Writers website will expand to include children’s authors.

Contact the Rights Department of the author’s publisher or contact their agent with an explanation of exactly which book/poem/play, how much of the book/poem/play you want to use and why you want to use it. If you have a copy of the book the publisher’s address is usually given on the reverse of the title page.

If it is a poem or article published in a magazine then contact the publisher of the magazine to ask permission to use it. The magazine will include the publisher’s address; contact details for all literary magazines are listed in the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook (A & C Black, annual publication); or a list of poetry publishers and poetry magazines, with contact details, are available from the:
