Les Bubb in Ankara, Turkey
23 April 2003

Described as a 'funny, high-speed elastic clown' (The Guardian), Les Bubb, live comedian and mime artist, performed in Ankara as part of the 20th Ankara International Music Festival.

His performance was specifically selected for 23 April because that is the 'Children's Holiday' in Turkey, the only specific children's holiday in the world. Audience numbers were good, and reflected a balance of both adults and children.

The festival and the British Council invited interested children's groups such as children from a reformatory centre (allowed out on special permission), children from NGOs which work with disadvantaged groups and a children's chorus. The rest of the audience was made up of parents and children.
