Broadcast and New Media Drama
Although much of our drama work engages in 'live' interaction via workshops, collaborations or performances, we recognise that such activity is limited to those directly involved or attending each project. In an attempt to engage with greater numbers of people both globally and in the UK, we are also involved in a number of new media and broadcasting initiatives which run along side and complement our live work. This work also takes advantage of the advancement of new media and it's growing importance in all our lives. Our work may therefore involve multi-media productions with sound, visuals and interactive technology, as well as installations or broadcast opportunities.

What work does the British Council do in this area?
Recent multi-media performances we have worked with include Stan's Cafe, who took their installation and live act, It's Your Film to Estonia in June 2002. It's Your Film is a three minute long mono-performance for the audience of one, watched like a peep show that uses cinematic language mixed with live performance. In October 2002, Theatre Cryptic took Each ... and Every Inch to Montreal, a work which combines music, text, sound and visuals, includes a live cello duet, multi-media visuals and ambient sound installations. Other companies we have worked with include Blast Theory, moti roti and the Builders Association, and the BBC.
