British photographer Dan Holdsworth was commissioned by the Design department of the British Council to create a series of images of industry, technology and manufacturing. Dan Holdsworth has attracted critical acclaim with a series of works that explored the empty arenas of our lives - office buildings after work, car parks at night and deserted motorway flyovers. These spaces were used as the basis for his examinations of technology and isolation in modern society. With this series of photographs Dan Holdsworth has transferred his interest in the built environment to shop floors and factories. This series features photographs from: Knitwear manufacturer John Smedley, who recently won the British Fashion and the British Apparel Export Award Rolls Royce, whose 772B Trent Engines are in operation with nine airlines worldwide Spice company Patak, the exporter of the Year from Food from Britain and HSBC Food Export Awards Pilkingtons glass factory, whose glass is in one of four of the world's cars.
