Britain has a long standing association with the craft of shoe-making, established as a guild in the 13th century and a vital part in contemporary British design. Courses at Cordwainers and the Royal College of Art are internationally renowned, creations from designers Manolo Blahnik and Gina adorn the world's most glamorous feet, and companies such as Dr Martens and Start-Rite shoe the rest. It's this rich history of design and manufacture that informs ShoeBox. ShoeBox explores all strands of the industry, from Clarks and Start-Rite to workwear specialists Toetectors, from Manolo Blahnik to Adele Clarke and from John Lobb to Jean Claude Bidi. ShoeBox also includes 'Footage', a short film commissioned from Ben Brett. ShoeBox toured to London, Berlin, Karachi, Peshawar, Beirut, Poznan,Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and finished its tour in Fukuoka, Japan.
