Personal Space
Personal Space responded to the increasing crossover between design disciplines in the UK, specifically in the worlds of fashion and furniture.

'Our home is a reflection of the way that we see ourselves, or perhaps more accurately, of how we would like ourselves to be seen. The parallels with the clothes that we wear are obvious. There is both a functional issue to address, and an emotional one. Like our clothes, our houses are shaped both by convention, and also by the constant urge to transgress the conventions. Fashion is an issue both for clothes and housing, as is technology and the availability of new materials.' Dejan Sudjic, 'Home: The Twentieth Century House.'

The function of the home and its emotional significance are changing as our homes become more transitory. Some people work from home, others rarely see their home during the working week. But for all of us, the home is a reflection of ourselves that we offer up to others, in much the same way as the clothes we wear.
