November 2004

Recognised internationally as pioneers in the field of integrated dance, CandoCo Dance Company visited Trinidad & Tobago in November 2004. The company held choreographic residencies for local dance practitioners, workshops for children, and training sessions to lay the foundation for the development of an integrated dance infrastructure in the region.

The company invited dance practitioners and people interested in movement to a series of training sessions on all aspects of its work, including training techniques, administrative methods and infrastructures. Participants proved to be open to CandoCo’s ideas and proceeded to create their own work through guided improvisation, exploration and rehearsal, culminating in a shared performance.

Relationships established locally from this visit will ensure that disabled artists in these countries will continue to pursue their activities in contemporary dance.
