Participants for the CLI 2009 programme have now been selected.
In May 2009 the British Council completed the nomination and interview selection process for this year’s CLI programme - all participants have now been selected.
Since then, the participants have undertaken a series of leadership workshops and have also developed their own Individual Development Plans, detailing the activity that they will be engaging in over the coming year. This will typically involve a combination of formal training, mentoring, coaching and work placements, all chosen by the participants themselves and designed to help each develop their own individual leadership skills and abilities.
At the end of this first year we will assess the programme methodology, and expand the scale and geographical remit. Information will be posted on this website so that if you are a potential participant, you can see how to get involved in future years.
If you would like to be involved in future years, take a look at our participant profile:
CLI is for those who are actively engaged in the cultural sector and who want to play a key role in its future. Participants don’t have to have experience of a leadership role, but they must be able to demonstrate a level of achievement and commitment to their sector/s, and importantly, a commitment to self-development, learning through experience, and to learning and sharing with others.
CLI participants will take part in two core programme components; one in their region in the spring and one in the UK. These events will enable them to:
- learn about leadership concepts
- networking
- peer learning
- work on individual development plans with tutors and mentors from the UK and overseas
The process will be competitive. In the first phase two people from each participating country will take part in Leadership Development Days. Eventually one participant will be selected to go forward, taking part in the international event in the UK, and given advice, contacts and financial support to take forward their individual development plan. The final group of participants will be selected on the development and strength of their development plans.
The success of CLI will rely on the broad range and nature of the partnerships we develop. There will be a range of opportunities for engagement.
You may represent an institution, and be able to offer a placement to a programme participant.
You may see yourself as a mentor or tutor to an international participant.
