Cause For Celebration

To mark the golden jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the British Council’s Design Promotion Department, has produced a series of 12 posters celebrating icons of contemporary British design.

Subjects were selected from across the spectrum of design - fashion, architecture, furniture, product, transport, tableware - and present unusual views of familiar objects. The list includes: Ron Arad’s Tom Vac chair for Vitra; Will Alsop’s Peckham Library; and Priestman Goode’s train for Virgin.

The posters are visually striking – with graphic design by Angus Hyland of Pentagram and photography by Lee Funnell who has worked with Domus magazine, Wolff Olins, Interbrand Newell and Sorrell and Pentagram.
