Architecture

Architecture in Britain is as varied as Britain itself. Much is made, with reason, of the band of internationally-famed architects who are British-based, from Will Alsop to Zaha Hadid, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw to Lord Foster, but there is also another picture to be considered. This is the evolving architecture of a new generation of talent coming to the fore today, nationwide.

CULTURAL HERITAGE
The UK is rich in museums, historic buildings and landscape, and British expertise in conserving, managing and developing these assets is recognised worldwide. More information on Cultural Heritage will be available here at a later date.
Cross disciplinary
Read about our cross-disciplinary projects such as the International Young Design Entrepreneur award; and the Import Export exhibition which explores global influences on design.
Venice Biennale of Architecture

The unique conditions that have bred the UK’s housing crisis will be put under the spotlight in Ellis Woodman's exhibition, Home/Away: Five British Architects Build Housing in Europe, in the British Pavilion for the 11th Venice Biennale of Architecture.

Environment
There is British architecture, and there is architecture in Britain. The two are not necessarily the same thing. Many well known British architects undertake far more work overseas than they do in the UK. Contrariwise there are many excellent architects who are so far commissioned only in Britain, and have yet to make their mark on the international stage.
