Space Invaders explores the portfolios and philosophies of 15 British architectural practices that have emerged in the last five years as leaders in a palpable movement for extending the concept of architecture beyond the culturally isolated practice of designing buildings.
These architects are engaged in using architecture to build connections between communities, between the present and the past, between the centres of power and media, and the margins. This approach is revealed in the processes by which the 15 practices work, the materials they specify, and the kinds of briefs they undertake.
Space Invaders features; Softroom, East, Urban Salon, FAT, MUF, de Rijke Marsh Morgan, Adjaye Associates, Block, General Lighting & Power Ltd, Piercy Conner, Atopia, s333, Foreign Office Architects, deCOi and Klein Dytham Architecture.
