Case Studies

Music access project (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1997)
A training programme for local musicians in access technology for physically disabled children and adults, working with children from a special school, adults from a psychiatric hospital and adults with cerebral palsy.

The partners worked together with immediate understanding of teaching processes as well as musical appreciation and understanding of commitment. Emotionally disturbed and autistic children were used to strict discipline and it required several people to work with them with less apparent structure.

The project culminated in presentations and the local musicians demonstrated the work to the British Council in Sarajevo.

Quotations

In spite of having heard of your wonderful work for some time, I was totally unprepared for the impact of attending this event. All were happy and excited, and the astonishing jazz that emerged, as a shared production of those that were well and those not, was something I shall never forget.
Dr Marian Wenzel FSA, Director, Bosnia-Herzegovina Heritage Rescue NGO on a workshop in Sarajevo (1997)
