Case Studies

Inclusive dance project (Sri Lanka, 2002)
In Sri Lanka the company dancers worked with a local integrated theatre group, Sri Lankan dance students and young soldiers who were injured during the recent conflicts in their country. This was the first time many of them had experienced dance and certainly the first time they had all worked together as a group. Some of the participants have since made a brief visit to the company in the UK as part of a wider training/development programme.

Choreographic residency (Russia, 2001)
The company led a choreographic residency with teacher training elements in Volgograd, Russia. Participants from all over the country took part in this integrated dance project. There were also observers present throughout the residency (social workers, teachers etc.) whose aim was to learn about CandoCo’s methodology and take it back to use in their own work.

Future Projects

Bulgaria
As a result of a previous visit to Bulgaria, the company are returning to provide in-depth training for an existing group of disabled artists. The main aim of this project is to disseminate CandoCo’s integrated dance practice, to foster creativity among the group and to provide teacher training (summer 2003).
