Phase 1

The internet not only helps us to socialise, be updated and entertained, but can also help one to achieve success in life. How? Students of all the vocational colleges across Armenia will answer this question and the authors of the 50 best essays will be invited to take part in the Skills for Employability Youth Entrepreneurship Competition National Camp.

The British Council, in partnership with ArmenTel (the company behind the Beeline brand in Armenia) launched the third Skills for Employability Youth Entrepreneurship Competition within the British Council Skills for Employability project.

The 2010/2011 Skills for Employability Youth Entrepreneurship Competition starts with a business essay competition announced among all the Vocational Education and Training (VET) colleges of Armenia. In the first phase of the competition, students have been invited to submit essays on the topic “How does the internet help you achieve success in your life?” and the second phase in Tsakhkadzor will see 50 students being assigned a business task.

The winners will get special prizes from the British Council and Armentel, including visits to the company and an internship for the best team of the competition.

Phase 2

Ten teams had only one day to solve the task and present the best solution. Fifty students from Vocational Education and Training Colleges across 11 regions of Armenia were selected from among more than 250 applications received by the programme team. They gathered for two days in Tsaghkadzor with the aim to present the best idea and win the third Youth Entrepreneurship Competition.

The task of the competition was proposed by the project business partner, ArmenTel Company (brand Beeline), a leading telecommunication company in Armenia. The students had to develop an attractive service package for a target group, e.g. politicians, journalists, housewives, businessmen, etc. The package had to include different telecommunication features - the internet, mobile and fixed telephone connection.

The ideas presented by the students to the panel of judges were very diverse and each was unique in its own way. The panel of judges included Mr. Gareth Wynn-Owen, Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy, Mrs. Anush Begloian, Head of PR Department of ArmenTel Company and Mr. Robert Abrahamyan, Head of VET, Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia. The jury was faced with a difficult task. It took more than an hour for them to assess the proposals and decide on the winner. Finally the decision was announced - Team N2 was the winner of the third National Competition organised by the British Council and the ArmenTel Company.

ArmenTel provided special prizes to the winning team and gave them the opportunity to have a business tour in the company, additionally awarding internship opportunities for the best participants of the competition.

The third Skills for Employability Youth Entrepreneurship Competition Competition was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Armenia, Junior Achievement of Armenia and ArmenTel Company.
