Resource Centre

On 25 April 2008 the British Council and Yerevan City Municipality established a new joint information centre for foreign languages. The centre features a collection of literature and multimedia resources for learning and teaching English and other foreign languages, as well as a collection of books and interactive materials covering different aspects of the contemporary United Kingdom.

The information centre is located at theAvetik Isahakyan Yerevan City Centre Library . It offers free membership to everyone who is interested in studying English, developing new skills in teaching English as a foreign language, preparing for the Cambridge ESOL and IELTS examinations, and learning more about the United Kingdom.

What are the membership benefits?

Members can:

borrow books, cassettes
make use of a wide range of English language learning and teaching resources, including interactive online software installed on the centre workstations
use the resources to prepare for the IELTS, BEC, CAP, CPE exams
use the Internet access service (booked in advance).

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?

To become a member of the Information Centre you need to provide:

your passport.
your Yerevan residence card or a certificate from your Yerevan-based employer
one passport-sized photo
children under 16 years of age can subscribe on the basis of their parents’ identification documents.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Membership of the centre is free.

How long can I borrow materials for?

Members may  borrow two resources at a time (sets comprising student and practice books, CDs and/or audio cassettes count as one item). Books with accompanying audio/video resources may be borrowed for 15 days and extended once, if not reserved by another member of the centre. DVDs may be borrowed for 7 days.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The terms and conditions of membership are as follows:

members of the centre must treat the resources with due care and return them on the due date
in case of loss or damage of the resources the member must replace them with the same or another commensurate resource approved by the centre staff
the reader’s card is considered a document allowing members to borrow and return the resources; it must always be available for these purposes
members sign the reader’s card for each borrowed resource and therefore agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the centre
membership will be discontinued if members to not abide by the aforementioned terms and conditions.
