We work in co-operation with key partners in Armenia to help to develop English language teaching. Here are some of the projects that we are involved in this year.
We work with AELTA, the Association of English Language Teachers of Armenia, to build an organisation that fully represents the interests of all teachers in Armenia. We support events organised by AELTA including the annual AELTA convention.
Together with AELTA, we organise teacher-training courses directed by our English Language Support Manager with the participation of trainers from Armenia, the United Kingdom and the USA.You can join one of these courses whether you teach at school or university, or if you are anyone who is involved in ELT. If you are interested in joining one of these courses, please contact AELTA for details.
We work alongside Armenian partners to build a team of regional teacher-trainers and to provide teacher-training sessions in the regions of Armenia. We work closely with the Armenian NGO, ESDF.If you are a teacher and you work in Gyumri, Sevan, Gavar, Syunik or Lori watch out for announcements locally.
We also work alongside the Armenian NGO Youth for Achievements to enable a skilled team of alumni to deliver teacher-training sessions in a range of regions. If you work in the regions, you will hear of forthcoming sessions http://www.yfa.am/
We work with the Centre of Education Reform to develop a full range of reading, writing speaking and listening examinations to be used in schools to give an accurate picture of student achievement.
One of our key university partners is the European Academy of the Caucasus. Here we help to develop syllabuses, to support the training of teachers and to provide support and advice for teaching.
On behalf of the UK government, we manage a worldwide programme of assistance to English language training for military personnel engaged in Peace Support Operations. Details of the UK-Armenia Peacekeeping English Project can be found on the British Embassy's website.
