Connecting the UK to the world and the world to the UK, the British Council is the UK’s international cultural relations body. In an inter-dependent, turbulent world we believe that creating opportunities for people to understand each other better, work together more and learn from one another is crucial to building secure, more prosperous and sustainable future for us all. We work in over 100 countries and territories across the world.
Our work is aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue and understandings sharing UK expertise on creative knowledge and economy and supporting international efforts of addressing challenges of climate change.
The British Council has adopted an Equal Opportunities Policy that prohibits unjustifiable discrimination on the grounds of gender, marital status, sexual identity, religious belief, political opinion, race, work pattern, age, disability or HIV/AIDS status, socio-economic background, past convictions, trade union activity or membership, or on the basis of having or not having dependants.
The British Council believe that all children have potential and that every child matters – everywhere in the world. The British Council affirms the position that all children have the right to be protected from all forms of abuse as set out in article 19, UNCRC 1989.
