Fashion road: DIALOGUE ACROSS BORDERS
Launch of the Project

The Fashion Road: Dialogue across Borders was officially launched on 4 and 5 May, 2011 with an international seminar in the Cafesjian Center for the Arts. The designers and experts from Armenia and European five countries gathered together to discuss the trends and developments in fashion design and share their own experiences in their field. The international seminar was the first attempt to bring the European and Armenian designers and experts together to share their experience and create links and networks. The topics of seminar included Armenian national costume: symbols and characteristics (Armine Tadevosyan, Armenia), the use of traditions in fashion design (Alexandru Balasescu, Romania), trend forecasting (Sian Kate Mooney, UK), new trend in fashion design in Germany: style, colors, design, materials, media, training, education and sustainability (Karin Leiberg, Germany), reflection of cultural elements in fashion (Helle Vibeke Jensen, Denmark), basis of stylization and author’s interpretation (Arman Davtyan, Armenia), illustration of ethnic ornament of different materials: (Nune Aghbalyan, Armenia).

The European experts also shared with their experiences and expertise with the young designers and students through the master classes. Students of ATEX fashion centre, Zatik studio, Armenian State Pedagogical University, Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts and National Academy of Fine Arts had the opportunity to attend master classes on the following topics: integration of historic and traditional fashion-design patterns into the modern fashion design in Germany, Trend forecasting, making research, building a fashion collection based on three stages: idea, research, concept, fashion art.
