The Selector 2011 in Yerevan
THE SELECTOR
Bringing you the best of new British music

The Selector is the international radio showcase for the best new music from the UK. The programme covers all styles of contemporary music - you’ll hear indie, grime, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything else in between. Each show also features artist interviews and exclusive studio sessions with some of the most exciting artists in the UK.

The British Council Armenia and Ardzagank Radio Station, FM 103.5 broadcast The Selector radio showcase in Armenia. The Selector radio programme is broadcast on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 15.40. If you like UK music in its freshest and most fantastic forms then The Selector is the place to be. It is our aim to expose Armenian audience to new sounds and talents from the UK, and not just the same tunes that can be heard on an average pop/chart show.

The show is a collaborative project by the British Council, the production company Somethin' Else and the radio stations around the world that broadcast The Selector show. The idea was conceived in the UK by the British Council's Music team in 2001 and since this time the show has been broadcast in over 30 countries and built up a loyal audience worldwide.

Over time The Selector has developed a strong identity within the British music industry and in the countries across the world where it is broadcast. In 2005 it won the gold award at the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards for the best specialist weekly music programme, a prize for which the show was first nominated in only its second year.

The show is available on The Selector website together with features, videos and a session archive. The show is also available on  the CulturalDialogue website.
