ReAnimania Yerevan International Animation Film Festival took place for the third time from 14 to19 September, 2011. The festival convened the best animation specialists from Armenia and Europe.
The British Council supports the ReAnimania Yerevan International Animation Film Festival to develop animation art, create links between Armenian and UK animators, as well as share the expertise of the best UK specialists with their Armenian counterparts.
Magdalena Osinska, an animation film specialist from Aardman studio, ran workshops for Armenian students and young specialists. Aardman Features Studio has an outstanding reputation in animated entertainment. The studio has had seven Oscar nominations, and has won four. The workshops involved 13 participants and were held between 15 and 19 September. Upon the completion of the workshops, each of the participants directed one short stop motion animation film.
Within the framework of the ReAnimania Film Festival, British Council announced a special award for the participants of the festival. Levon Petrosyan, a 28-year-old stop motion film animator and film director, was offered the opportunity to have an internship in Aardman studio.
This has been the second collaboration of the British Council and the ReAnimania Yerevan International Animation Film Festival. Through its arts projects, the British Council presents the best and innovative works to the Armenian audience and fosters closer relationship with the UK.
