LEARN ENGLISH IN ARGENTINA

Wherever you are, whether you are taking classes or not, you can practise and improve your English using our online resources.

If you wish to take classes, there are several options. English is taught in schools, and many private language institutes and other organisations offer classes for children and adults at all levels.

English Language teacher associations are very active in Argentina. For a full list, please see the ELTeCS website.

Schools

The amount of time devoted to the teaching of English varies greatly – from about 3 hours a week in some state schools to approximately 15 hours a week in bilingual schools. The latter includes the teaching of other subjects, such as maths, history, etc, in English. Many of the bilingual schools are linked through ESSARP (English Speaking Scholastic Association of the River Plate). ESSARP also administer Cambridge ESOL and International Examinations in schools.

Culturas

These not-for-profit, English language teaching institutions have a long history in Argentina. The oldest is the AACI (Asociación Argentina de Cultura Inglesa), founded in 1927. They were founded with the purpose of promoting the English language and cultural links between the UK and Argentina. They offer classes at all levels and for all ages. They have bilingual libraries and run cultural programmes. A number of ‘culturas’ are grouped under FAACI (Federación Argentina de Asociaciones de Cultura Inglesa).

Private language institutes

There are many private institutes offering classes to children and adults. Over 130 are members of SEA (Schools of English Association).

English language exams

If you would like a qualification or are interested in testing your knowledge of English, you can take a wide range of British examinations in Argentina.
