CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS

The Chevening Scholarship is the British Government’s top scholarship scheme for postgraduate students who would like to study in the UK. This is an annual programme funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office( FCO) and administered by the British Council.

This highly-competitive scheme offers full-time postgraduate scholarships  to,Algeria’s brightest and most promising graduates and professionals who will play a key role in promoting Algeria's political, economic and social development.

Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, covering course fees, living allowance , departure and return airfare.

The scholarships are for one year Masters degree programs only. Chevening scholarships do not fund PhD programs

CAN I APPLY?

People meeting the following criteria are invited to apply:

  • An Algerian citizen resident in Algeria at the time of application.
  • A graduate who has obtained a degree with distinction or merit (or their equivalent) from a recognised non-UK University.
  • A mid-career professional (with a minimum of three years professional experience) and ideally under the age of 35.
  • Good health and free from all military or official service requirements
  • Good English language skills (most UK Higher Education institutions require a minimum IELTS of 6.5 for admission to postgraduate courses).

  • Access the Information, Condition, Guidance and Application notes and read carefully before completing the application form
  • Complete the on-line application form.

Please note that only on-line applications will be accepted and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications are invited for study in all subject areas, however priority will be given to the following: Sustainable Development, Environment, Human Rights and Good Governance, Economics, Finance and Banking, Media, Politics and International Law, Energy, Public Administration.

SELECTION PROCESS

Competition for scholarships is very high. The selection process is rigorous and includes short-listed candidates attending a demanding interview in which a panel will assess whether they can satisfactorily prove that they have already made an impact in their area of specialism and that they will genuinely be future leaders.

If selected for an interview you will then need to provide the following documents prior the interview date;

  • supporting letters from two referees
  • photocopies of academic certificates
  • transcripts/records of exams that you have passed
