A prestigious award to fund your UK postgraduate studies

Chevening 2012-13

THE CHEVENING AWARD

We invite applications for the 2012/13 Chevening Scholarships Programme. Scholarships are available to Albanian nationals for postgraduate study in the UK for 12 months. The aim of the Chevening programme is to bring Albanian’s future leaders and decision-makers to study at a UK university and other professional institutions.

Applicants should be:

  • Motivated to make a career that will take them to positions of leadership in their own country within ten years of their scholarship
  • Able to use their studies and experience in the UK to benefit themselves, their countries and the UK
  • Natural influencers and talented communicators, with energy and ambition
  • People who value networking and who can demonstrate the value of networks to their studies, and to bringing about change on a global level
  • Intelligent, with demonstrable academic potential
  • Strong characters with integrity, drive, and the ability to self manage and work independently

Applicants must:

  • meet the academic requirements of their chosen course of study
  • not have already benefitted from a UK scholarship
  • not be a EU national
  • not be an employee of the FCO (including British Embassies and High Commissions), the British Council, a co-sponsor or sponsoring UK university, or their relatives, or former employee who left such employment within the past two years.

The Chevening application process for 2012-13 is now open until 31 January 2012.

Applicants should apply online via the eChevening website .

All candidates are encouraged to start researching appropriate postgraduate courses at UK institutions and making applications directly to them as appropriate.

The scholarships fund a whole year of postgraduate study in the UK only. This includes:

a gratis student visa
all your academic fees
a monthly allowance to cover living expenses
an arrival and departure allowance to help with travel
a book and clothing allowance
travel costs to and from the UK.

You cannot apply for a scholarship for undergraduate or PhD study.

CAN I APPLY?

You can apply for a Chevening scholarship if you are:

An Albanian university graduate with proven academic skills
Proficient in English, with excellent written and spoken skills (IELTS 6.5 or above);
Working in a priority area (listed below) and aiming for promotion to the highest level
Committed to return to Albania after graduation, and work to help the country’s development

Applicants who are not eligible:

Those who are employees, employees' relatives (or former employees who have left employment within the past two years) of the FCO (including FCO Posts), the British Council, a sponsor or (where applicable) a sponsoring university
Those who apply from another country unless they are able to return to their home country for interview and demonstrate their intention to become a future leader there
Those applying for part time courses
Those applying for distance learning
Those applying for courses of less than three months/twelve weeks duration
Those seeking secondary education
Those seeking undergraduate degrees
