In response to the need for teacher training the British Council Albania through the Bell Educational Trust Ltd provided training for 15 members of National Team of Trainers.
Participants, all members of English Language Teachers Association went through a certified programme that upgraded their teacher training skills through face to face training, distance learning (video conferences and on line forum discussions).
The main aim of this course was:
| To equip a group of experienced English Language teachers with the knowledge, awareness and skills to act formally or informally as future teacher trainers, mentors, supervisors, advisors or Teacher Development (TD) coordinators within Albania on pre-service or in-service training programmes or on a range of TD programmes. |
The course helped participants to:
Raise awareness of their personal skills relevant to seminar presentation, lesson observation, lesson feedback and communication with teachers |
Develop their own communicative language skills |
Gain a deeper understanding of current issues in language teaching methodology |
Focus on an area of particular interest to them (in Special Interest Groups) |
The course seminars themselves were delivered using a range of methods, activities and techniques that offered scope for reflection and learning and which was directly transferable to the participants’ own practice.
