Baseline Study

The baseline study is part of a project called ‘Students and Teacher Network Project’ conducted by the British Council Albania in co-operation with the English Language Teacher Association and Ministry of Education and Science in Tirana. The main purpose of this project is to identify and remove difficulties in learning English for students and teachers in middle and senior secondary schools all over Albania.

Aims

The aim of the baseline study is to provide clear and objective information on the conditions and needs of the English Language Sector. This will help provide a focus of action for the British Council and its partners who are interested in improving the access to and the quality of English language learning resources for young Albanians who want to learn English.

Research Team

The first stage of the baseline study involved primarily building up the English language research team. This team consists of 14 teachers trained by British Council and a British ELT consultant from University of Lancaster. The objective of the Research team is to develop a professional core of researchers and consultants who will provide consultancy service to the British Council and/or Ministry of Education and Science in the future.
