The British Council has existed in Uganda for 57 years since it first opened a library in Kampala in 1952. The main objective of this library was to provide British literature with the intent of educating the public on UK art, culture and education. From then to today, it has been a journey of creating partners and providing many opportunities. We have changed over the decades and have strived to look at ways of engaging with Uganda in more relevant and appropriate ways. Today we have a wide range of partnerships across leadership development, creativity in arts and culture and promotion of educational opportunities.
