The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) is the leading body representing the field of purchasing and supply chain management. CIPS promotes and develops high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. Please note that CIPS requires you to register as member before registering for an exam. For more information about CIPS memberships and qualifications, please visit the CIPS website.

The British Council administers exams on behalf of CIPS. Please read the frequently asked questions below for information about taking a CIPS exam with the British Council.

		HOW DO I REGISTER AS A CIPS MEMBER?

CIPS requires you to be a registered member prior to registering for any exams. Only certain membership options are available overseas. Please visit the CIPS website to determine the option that best suits you. Membership registration is open throughout the year. To apply as a new member, download and complete the appropriate application form: Africa application form or Southern Africa application form.

		HOW DO I RENEW MY CIPS MEMBERSHIP?

	If you are already a CIPS member, use My CIPS to keep your details up-to-date. To renew your membership, download and complete the renewal application form. Follow the instructions under 'How and where do I pay?'

		WHEN DO I REGISTER FOR MY EXAM?

Exam registrations are offered three times a year for sittings in May, July and November. The timetable is fixed by CIPS to help you with your exam planning.

Download and complete the relevant application form (below) and then follow the payment instructions explained under 'How and where do I pay?'

		WHEN WILL I RECEIVE CONFIRMATION?

	Once we have received confirmation of your application from CIPS, we will send you a notification within seven working days of payment. CIPS will send you the statement of entry. If you do not receive the statement of entry form CIPS two weeks before the exam please contact CIPS.

		WHAT IS THE EXAM TIMETABLE?

		HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE EXAM?

You will receive a statement of entry with your exam timetable from CIPS. This will help you in planning for your exam well in advance. Once you are registered you can also check your exams itinerary and update your contact details on My CIPS.

The CIPS website is full of essential resources for registered students and trainers who are studying, taking exams or training for CIPS qualifications.

		WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EXAM?

			1. Photographic ID (Passport or National Identity Card)
			2. Your statement of entry (this states your candidate number)
			3. Writing materials (pens, pencils, etc)

Please note:

			No mobile phones or electronic devices will be allowed into the exam venue.
			If your pencil case is not transparent it will not be allowed into the venue.

		WHEN WILL I GET MY RESULTS?

	Results will be available on My CIPS.

		WHAT ARE THE FEES?

Fees are payable in your local currency. The exchange rate is determined by the British Council on a monthly basis.

Download the monthly spreadsheet fee and refer to the fees of your country.

		How and where do I pay?


	OPTION 1

Direct Electronic Funds Transfer payment to the British Council.

Step 1: Please make separate payments for membership and exams.

Step 2: In order for us to identifying your payment, please use the correct code and your surname. These codes are only to be used for payments.

Step 4: E-mail your application and proof of payment to exams@britishcouncil.or.ug

Step 5: Please keep a copy as proof of payment.

Notice: In addition to the above fee please add 2,500shs as bank charges for each payment made.


	OPTION 2

Direct Deposit at Stanbic Branches.

Step 1: Please make separate deposits for membership and/or exams.

Step 2: Complete the British Council Deposit Slip (available at Stanbic Bank branches - see 'Where do I pay' for branch details).

Step 3: In order for us to identifying your payment, please use the correct code on the deposit slip. These codes are only to be used for the deposit slips. The code should then be followed by your Surname, then First Name. See attached example.

The British Council and the examining boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.
