Teaching Knowledge Test  (TKT) helps teachers to find out about the main areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.

What is TKT?
The Teaching Knowledge Test Course is about teaching English to speakers of other languages. It aims to increase the teacher’s confidence and enhance job prospects by focusing on the core teaching Knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world. This unique course will help the teacher of English to understand: 
Different methodologies for teaching
the language of teaching
the ways in which resources can be used
the key aspects of lesson planning
classroom management methods for different needs
the very technical aspects of grammar, Lexis and Phonology.

TKT gives teachers a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.

Who is TKT Course for?
The course is ideal for: 
Teachers who are preparing to take the TKT test.
Teachers who would like to update or refresh their teaching knowledge.
Experienced teachers who are not familiar with the communicative methodology and will like to understand its principles and practices.
Inexperienced teachers or people who wish to teach English but do not yet have a teaching position.
What does the Course require?

The TKT course has three core modules divided up into a total of thirty four units with an experienced trainer taking participants through the course.

The trainees are required to go through the course which will last for a period of five to six months. Having undergone the study, the candidates will be issued certificates of completion after which they can then sit for the exam. The exam also attracts a small fee.

With the TKT exam, there is no pass or fail. Every candidate receives a certificate for each of the modules taken.

The certificates are issued by the University of Cambridge.

When does the course start?
The course starts at the various centres in May and June 2009 respectively. Lectures will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, 1600 to 1800pm each day.
