When can I attend an IELTS workshop?
Please note that our workshops are currently finished until further notice.
When will I get my results?

You may collect your results in person or send someone to collect your results 13 days after the main exam date. You must bring along your passport and an authorisation letter however.

Your results will be available at the Lagos Centre but you can also arrange for your results to be collected from the Abuja, Kano or Port Harcourt Centres if you submit a request. Please note that we do not automatically mail the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF), and if you wish to receive your results by mail, please apply through the reception of the British Council and pay the relevant fee.

Please kindly note that:
Your exam results cannot be given to you over the telephone, via e-mail, by fax or letter.
Candidates will receive only one original Test Report Form. This is a valuable document and due care needs to be taken to keep it safe. The form cannot be replaced, photocopied or verified at any point in time.
Exam results will be sent directly to universities/institutions or immigration authorities according to the addresses supplied by you on your IELTS Exam application form.
Each receiving university/organisation or immigration authority specify their own requirements, so in each case you will need to check the required IELTS score yourself.
The IELTS Exam result is valid for two years only. Universities/organisations may have their own rules regarding the period of validity, so you need to check in each case. In the case of an address change, please contact British Council immediately. Your identity needs to be verified by your original international passport.

If you need to request extra copies of your results (from one month to two years after your exam) you will be asked to fill out an IELTS application and pay a mailing charge (administrative fees) plus the relevant country courier charges.

In addition to the certificate given to the candidate, candidates can request on their application forms (Section 24), that up to 5 copies of the results be sent to receiving institutions. Receiving institutions are local academic institutions (e.g. universities) and overseas institutions not registered to view candidate results online. Registered institutions only receive results online; here is a list of registered institutions. Unfortunately we cannot send to local institutions or departments (e.g. immigration agents).

In addition to the actual Test Report Form that will be posted to you, you can now view your results online. Click here to see your results.

What will happen before the Exam?
Candidates will receive notification/confirmation either by e-mail, sms or telephone one week before the exam date at the latest. Please check your e-mail regularly before your chosen exam date! If you have not received confirmation one week before the expected exam date, please contact the British Council office where you registered. Exam dates can be deferred or transferred five weeks prior to exam date under the following circumstances: serious illness, bereavement, hardship/trauma, and military service.
How do I prepare for the exam?

We can help you prepare for your exam in two ways:

1. You can familiarise yourself with the IELTS Exam by purchasing the specimen pack which contains a sample exam and a listening CD.
2  We also run one-day IELTS information workshops in Lagos. These workshops will be facilitated by experienced IELTS Trainers. Numbers are limited so they are on a first come first served basis.
What should I take to the exam?

Proof of your identity (international passport) which is the same as the identity information you provided on your application form.

Please note: If you do not have the correct identity document you will not be able to take the exam. Make sure you arrive on time so that you have enough time to get comfortable.
