IELTS IN WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA
Your international benchmark

If you are planning to study, live or work abroad, you will need to take an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Exam.

We do occasionally administer the IELTS Exam in Namibia depending on the number of students on any given date. Candidates should please note that the IELTS Exam in Namibia will now be run through the British Council Johannesburg; this would mean that we would have to send an examiner to travel up to Namibia to conduct the exam on your behalf.

How can I register?

Step2: Fax to 0860 10 35 25 or +27 (0)11 718 4400 or e-mail ielts@britishcouncil.org.za the following documentation:
a copy of your South African ID or passport
proof of payment as part of the online or manual application process.

OPTION 2

Please note: This process must be done in order to complete your application. Once we receive all the above documentation you will receive an official confirmation of your exam date. Please note that this can take up to ten days.

What are the costs?
Booking for the IELTS Exam only R 2,600.00
Ordering the study pack only R    400.00

We need a minimum of ten candidates per IELTS session in Namibia. Due to the fact that the examiner will travel from Johannesburg we will need to charge the IELTS fee of R2,600.00 (R1,900.00 for the IELTS fee plus R700.00 to cover any costs associated with this travel). Please also note that if we do not have ten candidates per session, then we will have to refund candidates as we would not be able to conduct the IELTS Exam for fewer candidates.

How do I pay?
You can pay for your exam in three ways:
Pay with your credit card. Once you have downloaded and completed the form please send it to us.
Pay by direct transfer. See banking details below.

When will I get my results?

Results certificates are posted registered mail 13 days after the main exam date. We will give you your tracking number at the exam, so that you can trace your parcel at any time by calling the Post Office tracking service on 0860 111 502.

Unfortunately results cannot be given over the phone, by fax or e-mail, and we are only allowed to give ONE certificate to each student. Candidates can however request to pick up their results in person instead of receiving them by post. This request can be made on the date of the exam and we will ask you to add your name to our collection list. When the results are available we will call you; to collect your results you simply need to bring your ID book.

In addition to the certificate given to the candidate, candidates can request on their application forms (Section 24), that up to 5 copies of the results be sent to receiving institutions. Receiving institutions are local academic institutions (e.g. universities) and overseas institutions not registered to view candidate results online. Apply for the results service by downloading and completing the test report form. Registered institutions only receive results online; here is a list of registered institutions. Unfortunately we cannot send to local institutions or departments (e.g. immigration agents).

In addition to the actual Test Report Form that will be posted to you, you can now view your results online. Click here to see your results.

What will happen before the Exam?
We will confirm your exam date by sending you a 1st confirmation letter within ten days of receiving your application form, copy of your ID or passport and proof of payment. If you do not receive the confirmation, it means that we haven’t received your application form or the application is incomplete.
Unfortunately we cannot reserve places before you have paid. For those candidates who have paid the fee, but not made a booking, we are unable to carry over or retain fees on your behalf. Such candidates will have to apply for a refund and book at a time convenient to them. Please note that fees cannot be carried over from year to year.
At least two weeks before the actual exam, you will receive your 2nd confirmation letter which will give you full details of both the written and oral exam. Please note that the oral exam should be scheduled to occur within a seven day period before or after the exam. You will also receive an SMS notification to confirm receipt of your 2nd confirmation letter and should you not receive either of these, please contact us.
How do I prepare for the exam?
Prepare for your exam by purchasing an IELTS study pack containing: a CD-ROM, handbook, exam information, and practice papers. Download and complete the Registration form.
What should I take to the exam?
Proof of your identity (ID book or passport). This must be valid and must be the same document used when you applied for the IELTS Exam. No other form of identification will be accepted.
Two passport sized photographs. Note that your results cannot be printed without a photo.
Your confirmation letter containing the details of your candidate number.
Pen and pencil.

Please note: If you do not have the correct identification document or you do not bring the two photographs, you will not be able to take the exam. Make sure you arrive on time so that you have enough time to get comfortable.
