When and where can I take my test?

IELTS registration

Register for your IELTS test by visting the 'Take IELTS' wesbite. Select your location/area and find suitable tet dates.

How do I prepare for my test?
1. Please click on the 'prepare for your test' link to the left to find information about ‘Road to IELTS’ - an exclusive online offer to British Council candidates.
2. You can familiarise yourself with the IELTS test by purchasing the specimen pack which contains a sample test and listening CD. Numbers are limited so they are on a first come first served basis.
3. Do you want to practice your English vocabulary? British Council IELTS Word Power is a free vocabulary practice app for IELTS test takers. Download IELTS Word Power or follow these instructions.
What will happen before the test?
We will confirm your test date by e-mail within ten days of receiving your application form, copy of your ID or passport and proof of payment.
Unfortunately we cannot reserve places before you have paid.
What should I take to the test?
Proof of your identity which is the same as the identity information you provided on your application form. It must contain a number, a signature, a date of birth and a photograph.
If you are taking the test in another country you need to also bring your passport.
The pens, pencils and erasers which you need for the test. Bring an accurate watch along with you too so that you can keep track of the time.

Please note: If you do not have the correct identity information you will not be able to take the test. Make sure you arrive on time so that you have enough time to get comfortable.

When will I receive my results?

Results are available 13 working days from the date of test.

Please note that you will have to pay additional courier fees to receive your Test Results Form (TRF).

Unfortunately results cannot be given over the phone, by fax or e-mail, and we are only allowed to give ONE certificate to each student. Candidates can however request to pick up their results in person or fill an Authority Note form, which allows you to send someone to pick up your result on your behalf. You can also request for your result to be sent to you by post, in this case you will be required to pay courier fees. This request can be made on the date of registration or on the date of the test

To collect your results you simply need to bring your ID book or card.
