British Council Malawi prides itself on helping people develop personally and professionally. In 2007 we worked face-to-face with more than 6,000 Malawians, from cabinet ministers to university students. Our radio and TV programmes reached 426,000 listeners and viewers. We also give men and women from all faiths and backgrounds the chance to form creative networks. Through our targeted efforts to bring people together, we help build trust and understanding between different cultures.
Arranging for Malawian and British partners to bring about positive social change together is another vital part of our work. Our collaboration with ‘Theatre for a Change’, for instance, is helping to slow down the spread of HIV and AIDS by actively engaging with trainee teachers and, through them, their pupils.
