For our Saturday Young Learner programme, we have over 400 Primary (07-10 years) and Secondary (11-17 years) learners per ten week academic term who study General English and Cambridge Exam preparation courses. We also offer General English, IELTS preparation and Communication courses for Adults.  See our general information on English for more details.

How can I register?

If you are a new student, you will need to take a placement test before enrolling in one of our courses. This involves a written test and a speaking test with one of our teachers. Following the test we will match your language needs and learning requirements to a suitable class. We also offer courses to complement our Cambridge English Exams, please contact us if you are interested.

Please note that the placement testing periods take place during the registration dates.

How can I pay for my course?
Payments for courses should be paid before your course starts. You can make payments in the Knowledge and Learning Centre (KLC) on the 1st floor of our premises in Rose Hill. We accept cash and debit/credit card. Payment by cheque can only be by prior arrangement with the British Council. Once you have paid, you will be issued with a receipt and confirmation detailing the time and location of your course, your student number and your class teacher.
What courses can I take?
Adult General English 
10 weeks - 30 hours (1.5 hour classes, twice a week)

Adult IELTS preparation 
5 weeks - 15 hours (1.5 hour classes, twice a week; or 3 hour classes, once a week)
10 weeks - 30 hours (1.5 hour classes, twice a week; or 3 hour classes, once a week)
10 weeks - 50 hours (2.5 hour classes, twice a week)

Primary Learners 
10 weeks - 20 hours (2 hour classes, once a week; or 1 hour classes, twice a week)

Secondary Learners 
10 weeks - 30 hours (3 hour classes, once a week; or 1.5 hour classes, twice a week)

What are the Course times?
Our Teaching Centre operates a Tuesday to Saturday working week. While class times may vary from term to term, according to demand and teacher availability, courses are currently being offered on the following days and at the following times: 
Adults Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday, 1700 - 1830 or 1845 - 2015
Primary Learners Saturday 0845 - 1045 and 1115 - 1315
Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday 1545 - 1645
Secondary Learners Saturday 1015 - 1315 and 1415 - 1715
Tuesday and Thursday, or Wednesday and Friday 1515 - 1645
Corporate Clients Class times can be during normal office working hours or subject to negotiation, according to your requirements and trainer availability.
