English
Learn English with us: whatever your level of English, we can help you develop your English language skills. At our Teaching Centre in Rose Hill, we offer a wide variety of courses for children, adults and professionals. We also have courses for people who are preparing to take the IELTS  test. Call us now to book a placement test.
English online: for practical tips on improving your English language skills, have a look at our free online resources. There are dedicated sections for kids, adults and professionals. Children can have fun with games, songs and activities – and learn English too.
English in the media: read our weekly column in Le Matinal – Dr Danny’s English Language Clinic – and win prizes. Coming soon on the Knowledge Channel are programmes to help learners of English. These have been jointly developed by the British Council and Mauritius College of the Air.

Teaching English: we work closely with the Ministry of Education and the Mauritius Institute of Education to support the professional development of English teachers through workshops and other training events. Our TeachingEnglish website provides a wealth of practical resources for teachers to use in the classroom. Register now to receive regular updates.

Are you interested in becoming and English Language teacher? The British Council in Mauritius runs CELTA teacher training courses in July and December. This is a passport to teaching English anywhere in the world. Call us now to book an interview.

English Exams: learners of English can gain an internationally recognised qualification with us. If you are planning to study, live or abroad, an IELTS exam will open doors. Primary school pupils can test their level of English by taking a Cambridge Young Learner exam. Businesses can test the language skills when recruiting with a BULATS test.

Education
Connecting Classrooms: Connecting Classrooms is a programme that establishes and develops long-term, sustainable school partnerships across 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK.
Creative writing competition: each year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, we organise a creative writing competition.  Last year we worked with Constance Hotels to add an educational dimension to Le Prince Maurice Literary Award. Winners of the creative writing competition were able to meet high profile international novelists such as Sebastian Faulks.
Studying in the UK: we help with information on studying in the UK and applying for scholarships to UK institutions. Visit the Education UK website to find out more.
