Frequently Asked Questions on InterAction

InterAction is a high-profile British Council initiative that supports emerging African leaders as they face up to the challenges of the 21st Century.

From April 2009 InterAction /Trust the Difference will become part of a new global programme called ‘Active Citizens’ to be launched in Sub Saharan Africa in 2009.

This means that we will no longer run the InterAction programme.

Active Citizens will build on the transformational leadership methodologies used by InterAction to develop content and models.  We will be working with communities under Active Citizens for positive social change.

I’m a member of the alumni – what happens to us?

We wrote to you in March explaining the end of InterAction and the beginning of the new global programme called Active Citizens.

We hope you are in touch with your local panel or other alumni country group.  We encourage you to maintain a link with us to take full advantage of the future opportunities for the alumni.  We will get back in touch with you when the new global Active Citizens web-site is up and running.

Why is InterAction no more?
InterAction has been one of the British Council’s most successful programmes. We want to build on that success and widen the InterAction experience across the globe. The Active Citizens programme has a broader remit and the new name expresses the main objective of promoting members of society to be active in driving social positive change, together.
What about the InterAction Workshops and SLP

The Workshops will be specifically for organisations who want to develop leadership and team capacity in contexts of change and SLP will be for higher level leaders who have a role and responsibility of facilitating transformation in their organisation.

Both of these programmes will continue to run and will be marketed from April 2009. If you are interested in either of these programmes, we would be happy to send you full details.

What about the IA website – is that still in operation
The IA website will no longer be available from March 2009. The new Active Citizens website is being developed and will come on-line later this year.   We will be back in touch with you regarding the opening of the new site. In the meanwhile do keep in touch with your local network or panel.
I’ve got a great story of change, do you still want the stories?
Yes we would very much like to receive your stories. Stories are great demonstrations of impact that InterAction has made. Please send your story to Samantha Chuula.
