Take IELTS
IELTS is the world's most popular English language test for education and emigration. Over 1.5 million tests are taken each year in over 500 locations worldwide.

What are the costs?
Booking for the IELTS test GHC 340.00
Booking for the IELTS workshop Free
Ordering the study pack GHC 65.00
*Test Result Form (TRF) to any place within Ghana GHC 10.00
*Test Result Form (TRF) to any place outside Ghana GHC 70.00

* Candidate’s could also request to receive or send Test Result Form (TRF) at no cost to them through the registered mail service of the Ghana Post. The British Council would not be responsible for the delay or otherwise of this service.

How do I pay?
Please pay to account number 99001…plus the last 7 digits of your reference number on your application form at any Standard Chartered Bank in Ghana. Do not include the hyphens in your reference number.
Payment should be made within two working days after registration
Send a scanned copy of your passport or voters ID Card to our e-mail address ielts.ghana@gh.britishcouncil.org with your test date and name in the subject line.
Send your application form, copy of your passport or  voters ID Card and 2 passport photographs (to be taken without spectacles with a dark colored shirt on a white background) to our offices in Accra (Liberia Road) or Kumasi (Bank road) during your speaking test or on the test date.
A speaking test date will be sent to the email address and phone numbers provided on the application form after payment is made

How do I prepare for my test?

We can help you prepare for your test in three ways:

1. Please click on the 'prepare for your test' link to the left to find information about ‘Road to IELTS’ - an exclusive online offer to British Council candidates.
2. Purchase an IELTS study pack which contains a sample test and a listening CD. Numbers are limited so the packs are available on a first come first served basis.
3. You can also join one of our workshops to help you achieve the best results.

IELTS workshops will be conducted on the following dates. All dates prior to these are fully booked.

Registration forms are available at our offices in Accra and Kumasi.

What will happen before the test?
Candidates will receive notification/confirmation on the day of registration in the form of a letter specifying allocated date and time for the speaking test as well as the written tests
In the event that you do not receive the notification, please contact the British Council office where you registered.

What should I take to the test?

Results are available 13 working days from the date of the test.

Please note that you will have to pay additional courier fees to receive your Test Results Form (TRF).

Unfortunately results cannot be given over the phone, by fax or e-mail, and we are only allowed to give ONE certificate to each student. Candidates can however request to pick up their results in person or fill an Authority Note form, which allows you to send someone to pick up your result on your behalf. You can also request for your result to be sent to you by post, in this case you will be required to pay courier fees. This request can be made on the date of registration or on the date of the test.

To collect your results you simply need to bring your ID book or card.
