British Council Supports Technical Vocational Schools in the Philippines
Content subject teachers from nine Technical Vocational Schools received training from the 25th to the 27th of April on “Teaching Strategies, Methodology and Pedagogy in Contextualising Tech-Voc Subjects in Content Subjects”.

40 participants from the nine Tech-Voc schools in the National Capital Region enjoyed language development activities which included integration of thinking skills and enquiry based learning in Tech-Voc subjects for English, Science, Math and Technical Vocational Education (TVE). Teachers confidently presented how contextualisation is applied in the backward design framework through lesson planning and demo teaching.

One of the participants, Mr. Nelson Huelva from Benigno Aquino High School in Makati City, said that the speaker, British Council Access English’s Digi Castillo, was very knowledgeable. “We were delighted by the demo teaching of our teachers in Math, English, Science and TVE.  Everybody participated actively and we were able to witness how they apply contextualization. We can now say that we can face our students armoured with the ideas and thoughts about contextualization.  This 3-day seminar is a big help and we are thankful to our DepEd family, our facilitators and our speakers, in letting us be part of this.”
