Sue Hoyle OBE - Director of Clore Cultural Leadership Programme
Sue Hoyle is Director of the Clore Leadership Programme and Visiting Research Associate in Creative and Cultural Industries at King’s College London. She is a Trustee of the British Council and previously chaired the Boards of DV8 Physical Theatre and Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Theatre.
She has been a Board member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Ricochet Dance Productions; a Council member of the Franco-British Council; Arts Council England's Lead Adviser for Dance and a member of the Steering Group for the new Clore Social Leadership Programme. She is a Patron of the Foundation of Community Dance.
Sue began her career as a university lecturer and tutor in adult education. Her experience of arts management includes London Festival Ballet; Extemporary Dance Theatre; Arts Council England (Director of Dance 1989 – 94 and Deputy Secretary-General 1994 – 97); and the British Council (Head Arts in France). From 1998 – 2003 she was Executive Director of The Place, She was appointed Deputy Director of the Clore Leadership Programme when it was created in 2003, and became Director in 2008.
As a consultant and facilitator, Sue has worked with a range of UK and international institutions, including the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Max Mueller Bhavan and ELIA. She is co-author of a comparative study on funding for culture in France and Britain.
