Register as a consultant

What we do

We provide high-quality technical assistance management services and technical expertise to development projects and programmes in our areas of work.

We employ a large number of short-term and long-term consultants in the delivery of technical assistance to projects and programmes. We are continually updating our database of experts.

In particular, British Council is looking for experienced consultants with experience in international development work, preferably through one of the large donor organisations.

Frequently asked questions

A: No. The British Council engages consultants worldwide of different nationalities. Consultants do need to have a valid passport.

Q: Do I need specific qualifications/what are the minimum qualifications?

A: There are no minimum or standard qualifications. Each consultancy assignment will have its own set of specific criteria. However it would be advisable for you to read the other web pages on this website and get an idea of the type of projects that we usually work in.

Q: What experience is required?

A: Each consultancy assignment will have its own set of specific criteria. However as a guide, we usually engage experts who have had professional consultancy experience of at least five years or of at least three projects.

Q: How much will I be paid?

A: Fee rates will be negotiated with consultants and will take into account the skills, experience and background of each individual.
