Customer Services

We provide information about the British Council and its programmes and activities.

If we are unable to answer your question directly, then we will guide you to someone in the organisation who can. If you have a specific enquiry, but do not know who to speak to, we can put you in contact with the right person or team.

Our staff are trained in the use of plain English and we aim to make the information we provide as clear as possible. We are also able to provide information in special formats, such as Braille, if this is needed.

We provide several specific services including the List of Travellers scheme.

There is no charge for contacting customer services, but some British Council services that we give information on have a cost involved. The most common requests for information we receive are around:
  • education in the UK for international students
  • funding for international students
  • learning and teaching English
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • school and higher education programmes, including Comenius and Erasmus

List of Travellers

The List of Travellers is a scheme which enables non-EU pupils in UK schools to travel to other EU member states on educational school trips without the need for a visa. We administer this scheme on behalf of the Home Office.
