The TKT Essentials is a modular course based on the Cambridge TKT syllabus and produced by the British Council Global Products Team. It aims to increase teacher’s confidence and provide opportunities for teacher’s professional development. It gives teachers a basic foundation in the major areas of teacher education needed for running the English language classes effectively.
The course is based on TKT syllabas and covers the three TKT core areas (background to language teaching/learning; lesson planning and teaching resources; classroom management) and was focused on such issues as:
- teacher’s beliefs about teaching/learning and teacher’s roles
- how to understand teacher trainees
- the methodological principles and approaches in TKT and TKT Essentials
- how to prepare a training session
