New British Film Festival

New British Film Festival is a unique event in Russian cultural life which celebrates the best and brightest new work in contemporary British cinematography. This year Moscow hosts the 10th anniversary of the British Film Festival.

When: 28 October – 4 November 2009
Where: Formula Kino Europe” cinema hall (“Evropeysky” Trade Centre), metro station Kievskaya

Programme

Films that are annually selected for the Festival’s programme have been honoured with the most prestigious cinematographic awards. Many of them were nominated for Oscars, won prizes at Berlin, Edinburgh and Cannes film festivals, and many others.  

British Film Festival gives a unique chance to watch original and fascinating movies by world-famous directors of the highest quality and professionalism . All films are shown in English with Russian subtitles.

Guests of the Festival

In the framework of the Festival various meetings and round-table discussions with leading British actors, film experts, and directors will take place.  These attract a lot of media coverage and put the festival on an international footing making it an important event in the cultural life of Moscow.

Competition

British Film Festival is an event much anticipated and appreciated by Moscow audiences. Tickets to shows are sold out far in advance and queues can be long for particular films. Discussions with directors and actors are very popular with audiences as they present a superb chance to talk with leading professionals in cinematographic industry.

Special Show

A special show of short films produced by British and Russian students will be organised in the framework of the 10th anniversary Film Festival.  Four young British directors have tried to portray the look and feel of Moscow in their works, while their Russian colleagues have expressed their vision of London.
