The Montgolfier Brothers is a project named after brothers Joseph Michel and Jacques-Etienne Montgolfiers who invented a hot air balloon in the 18th century. These Montgolfier Brothers are neither French brothers, not hot air ballooners. Instead, they comprise the British music duet by Roger Quigley and Mark Tranmer whose music as it has been said would make you want close your eyes and soar in the clouds.
Mark Trunmer has been described as an aesthet and "mysterious realist in music". Originally from agricultural East Yorkshire he used to live right behind the Royal Air Forces airfield, and one of his first unreleased tracks is relevantly called – The RAF Makes You Deaf .Perhaps, this explains his tendency to write music that is calm, smooth and light.
At some point he met Roger Quigley, an admirer of Francois Truffaut, Jane Birkin and Jean Seberg who enchanted by their airiness, frailness and vulnerability. Thus, Mark and Roger made up a wonderful duet.
Their first album, Seventeen Stars, was released in 1999. The next two records, The World Is Flat and All My Bad Thoughts, were highly praised by critics. After that the band set off for torus around the world, and will come to Moscow in June 2009.
