Celebrate Father's Day at the British Council!

In March we celebrate women, but June belongs to gentlemen! Since 17 June 2012 is internationally celebrated as Father’s Day, our libraries in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi will be awaiting all men with a special promotion.

We think well read men are the most attractive men. So how better to celebrate them if not by offering gentlemen library discounts? During 11 and 16 June, all men will get 50% off any library membership in our centres in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi – so make sure you get yours and explore the wealth of British culture!

The @British library in Bucharest is open from Tuesday to Saturday, according to the following schedule:

Tuesday - Friday 12:00 - 19:30
Saturday 09:00 - 13:30

LEADERS School @British Council

This is a call for leaders. People with ideas, vision and the power to do and change things. Do you fit the description?

The British Council, in partnership with LEADERS Foundation, is challenging young adults aged between 18 and 25 to participate in LEADERS School, the first leadership school in Romania. There will be 6 days of intensive workshops in Predeal, between 1 and 7 april, and British Council library members will receive a 15% discount when enrolling. Contact us to find out how!

You will have the opportunity to talk to trainers, entrepreneurs, managers and top Romanian leaders to find the key behind the success of their career.

The participation fee is 449 Euros.

Your books will love our new bookbag!

Between 13 and 25 February, English is going on a date at our libraries in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi, within the “For English, with love” event. We are waiting for you at the first Debate Demonstrative Match on 12 December, between 17.30 – 18.30, at the @ British Library. The event is organized in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia and wants to promote debate as an extracurricular activity.The match will be held by some of the best Romanian debaters, who were finalists in the debate competition in Oxford this year.

New Practice materials for IELTS in Cluj-Napoca!
New preparation materials for IELTS are available at the library from the British Council Cluj-Napoca! The titles include: “IELTS Practice Test” – Peter May, “Achieve IELTS Practice Test Book” – A. Bazin, E. Boyd and “IELTS Practice Tests with Key” – M. Harrison, R. Whitehead.
Twice as many books during the summer in Cluj
The British Council centre in Cluj will be closed to the public during the summer, between 1-31 August. Therefore you will be allowed to keep all the materials you have borrowed between 11 and 29 July during your entire holiday. Moreover, because we know you like to read, between 25 and 29 July, the number of materials you can borrow will be doubled!

The British Council, in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia, organizes the first debate club in English for high school students! Interviews and registrations for Debate @British will take place between 2-6 May. Classes start on 9 May and end on 27 June, being held every Monday between 18.30 and 20.30. The enrolling fee is 500 lei.

Write a story with us for World Book Day!
On 3 March, celebrate World Book Day in the British Council libraries in Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi! Together with Decat o Revista, we give you the beginning of a story and then it’s up to you to complete it, sentence by sentence. As a reward, you will be given a 50% discount for all subscriptions and extra-options in our libraries.
New IT resources at the Iasi library!
We welcome you with a series of new books for those passionate about IT. Take a library tour for a general view of our collections and services. You will find out about our collections and events. You will discover our newest acquisitions, what books and resources @British might be of use to you and the membership types we offer. At the end there will be a question and answer session, when you can ask for the details you need.

The tours are free of charge, but you should book a place in advance, by sending an e-mail at contact@britishcouncil.ro.
