70th Anniversary of the British Council Romania

This year, the British Council celebrated 70 years of activity in Romania. Bucharest was one of the first five cities in the world in which a British Council office was set up, along with Athens, Alexandria, Cairo and Lisbon.

Over the years, the British Council initiated and developed a series of projects in the field of arts and creativity, education, science, personal and professional development, along with important projects in the area of governance and civil society.

Among the successful projects developed by the British Council so far are: Dreams and Teams, Youth, Sport, Action!, Beautiful Science, Rural Education and Going Green.

In all its work, the British Council has always enjoyed not only the support of educational and cultural organisations, but also of the governmental and non-governmental institutions in Romania.
